The Assistant Teacher is a school age youth development worker that will actively lead and engage scholars in all program components and activities of the YMCA Afterschool Signature Program. Responsible for the daily supervision of an assigned group, is a positive adult role model, and guides scholars to support academic, social emotional, and physical development. To accomplish this, assistant teachers will be required to participate in ongoing professional development and planning sessions with lead teachers and site managers on a regular scheduled basis. General program schedule follows school district calendar Monday through Friday 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, part-time.

The Lead Teacher will actively lead and engage scholars and staff in all program components and activities of the YMCA Afterschool Signature Program. Ensuring a strong program team that works well together, overseeing the implementation of the program components, building continual opportunity for youth leadership and character development, and will be responsible for the daily supervision of an assigned group. To ensure a high-quality implementation of the program, the site manager is expected to participate in ongoing professional development and provide opportunity for program staff to participate in professional development opportunities. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Recreational Aquatics, the Swim Instructor delivers the YMCA swim lesson curriculum in group swim lessons and private/semi-private swim lessons and the lifeguard is responsible for the safety and well-being of all aquatic facility patrons. The swim instructor will be responsible for building strong and confident swimmers by creating opportunities that build a sense of achievement and ensure their safety in and around water and ensure the pool deck and all patrons are safe.
The Lifeguard creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
